From April 13 to 17, the students of our Academy took part in an International Week at a Lithuanian Police School in Mastaičiai in Kaunas. The trip took place as part of the Erasmus+ exchange programme and provided an excellent opportunity to expand knowledge and gain practical experience related to the functioning of services responsible for public safety.
The training programme included both theoretical and practical classes. Participants had opportunity to become familiar with the Lithuanian Police education system and also they took part in lectures on, among other things, the use of coercive measures, tactical medicine and road safety. An important element of the programme also included sessions devoted to special operations and cooperation between services in crisis situations.
During their stay, students visited “Aras” anti-terrorist unit in Vilnius, where they learned about the organization and scope of activities of this specialized formation. Practical classes were also of great interest, including participation in police patrols, which made it possible to observe the realities of everyday police service and methods of responding to various types of incidents.
One of the most important parts of the programme was large-scale exercises in special operations, carried out at a stadium in Kaunas. Participants had the opportunity to observe and take part in simulations requiring quick decision-making, effective communication, and close teamwork.
The exchange had an international and multicultural dimension. Participants from different countries shared their experiences and compared police training systems, which contributed to building relationships and developing intercultural competencies.
Participation in the programme was a valuable experience that contributed to develop of student’s professional and personal skills. The knowledge gained and new experiences will certainly be used in their further education and future service.
