Amok 1

On 10–14 November 2025, at the Police Academy in Riga (Latvia),   Capt. Dr.Łukasz Kacprowicz, and Lt. Marcin Smętek represented Poland during the international training course “Police Tactics in Amok Situations”.

The programme included issues related to preparing services for crisis situations, particularly in the context of securing public spaces such as Christmas markets or schools. Participants analysed procedures, tactical methods, and legal aspects relevant in cases of “amok-type” threats, which represent a real danger that may occur in any place.

Representatives of services from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, and Ireland took part in the event, allowing for broad exchange of experience and best practices.

Classes were delivered in the form of lectures and practical workshops, enabling participants to improve skills essential for effective action in situations requiring rapid and coordinated response and cooperation among different entities.

During the stay in Latvia, participants also had the opportunity to learn about the crisis management structures and the modern capital-city monitoring system using artificial intelligence.

The participation of Polish representatives in the training is an important element in the development of officers’ competencies and knowledge. It strengthens international cooperation and confirms that Poland—and, above all, our Academy—is a reliable partner supporting initiatives that contribute to strengthening national and international security.
