On 21-23 May 2025, the Police Academy in Szczytno hosted Professor Chris Eskridge from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (USA). The purpose of the visit was to continue a longstanding academic and teaching partnership and to deliver a series of lectures to students of the Faculty of Security and Legal Sciences.

Professor Eskridge has been visiting our Academy regularly since 2006. His annual visits have become a significant part of the institution’s academic tradition—he is a figure of great importance to our community, one who has nurtured the idea of knowledge sharing and intercultural exchange for nearly two decades. Thanks to his dedication, our students gain a unique insight into the specifics of the American criminal justice system.

Professor Eskridge’s visit began with a meeting with Colonel Dr. Agata Malasińska-Nagórny, Commandant-Rector of the Police Academy in Szczytno. The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the further development of international collaboration and scholarly integration between the two institutions.

This year’s program included lectures entitled The Law of Search and Seizure in America, Witness Protection and Immunity Law, as well as an open lecture entitled Capital Punishment: The American Experience. These events attracted strong interest from both students and academic staff.

The visit also featured discussions and seminars with students and staff, focusing on topics such as organized crime and comparative legal systems. A particular attention was drawn to presentations on Asian cartels, U.S. law enforcement agencies, and witness protection frameworks.

Professor Eskridge’s visit was not only a valuable academic event but also an important landmark of the enduring partnership between our Academy and the University of Nebraska.
