The exchange of experience remains a vital component of international cooperation—especially when it encompasses academic and scientific dimensions that contribute to enhancing knowledge in areas fundamental to the functioning of police institutions. Such was the nature of a recent week-long visit by a representative of the Police Academy in Szczytno to a partner institution in Turkey.
From 12 to 16 May 2025, Major Maciej Sostek, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Crime Studies within the Institute of Criminal Service at the Police Academy in Szczytno, participated in an international mobility initiative under the Erasmus+ programme. His mission involved delivering lectures at the Police Academy in Ankara—the only institution in Turkey dedicated to educating and preparing future leadership within the Turkish National Police.
During his visit, Superintendent Sostek conducted English-language courses focusing on tactics for combating criminal activity. The classes were designed for students of the Ankara academy, recognized as one of the most prestigious institutions of its kind in the country.
The visit held significant value on multiple levels. For the participating lecturer, it provided a unique opportunity to exchange professional experience, enhance language and didactic competencies in an international setting, and gain deeper insights into the structure and functioning of police training in Turkey.
At the institutional level, the visit further strengthened our Police Academy’s commitment to international cooperation and contributed to reinforcing its standing as an active partner within the European and global law enforcement education community.
