Today, we bid farewell to another group of guests from a foreign partner university. On 14 May, 2025, representatives from Söderntörn University in Stockholm visited the Police Academy in Szczytno – Prof. Mehdi Ghazinour, director of the School of Police Sciences, and Anders Johansson – lecturer on crisis management and conflict prevention.
The visit began with a meeting with the heads of units and departments of the Police Academy in Szczytno. The Dean of the Faculty of Security and Legal Sciences, Capt. dr Łukasz Kacprowicz, welcomed the guests on behalf of the Commandant-Rector. He briefly presented the organizational structure of the Polish Police, concluding with the presentation on the tasks and operations of the Police Academy in Szczytno. Then, the prof. Mehdi Ghazinour spoke, describing the School of Police Science at Söderntörn University, with particular emphasis on research projects. This is the only university in Sweden funded by the East European Foundation. It combines theory and practice in its operations, offering basic training for police officers and simultaneously providing first-degree studies for cadets and second-degree studies for officers and civilians. Prof. Mehdi Ghazinour proposed expanding cooperation with the Police Academy in Szczytno through the implementation of international projects in cooperation with institutions from Sweden, Armenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Serbia, Germany, and the Netherlands. One example of such a project is Hybrid warfare and effects on police organizations around Europe, focused on migration, public order disruptions, and cyberattacks. Additionally, Prof. Ghazinour proposed joint training initiatives, which could be carried out within the framework of the virtual Interpol Academy.
The Swedish delegation also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the Academy’s teaching facilities, visiting the Police Analytical and Research Centre (PCAB), participating in intervention tactics and self-defense classes, as well as visiting the shooting range, sports facilities, simulator of police operations in emergency situations and the Academy library.
Later in the day, a meeting was held with representatives of the In Service Training and Development Department, dedicated to police education in Poland. The guests also visited the Masurian Museum in Szczytno.
The representatives of Söderntörn University confirmed readiness to strengthen cooperation in the area of police education, scientific research and the exchange of experiences.
